Rules

by the
organisers apply.
Schedule
The event centre opens at 9 am. The finish closes when the last competitor
finishes or at
4.30 pm at the latest.
Information, office and complaints
At the event centre. Arja Pajunen 050-9665608
Changing, wash and toilets
Changing outdoors, wash with lake water near the event centre. There are
toilets in the
event centre and near starts.
Model control
Model control is at a guide pole where you can also test the function of your
EMIT-card.
Map
A six-coloured map of scale 1:10 000, contour interval of 2.5 m. In elite
classes the map
is A3 size, printed in May 2008. In other classes the map is A4, printed in May
2008. The
maps are in plastic covers of which they shouldn't be removed.
Control descriptions
There are separate control description sheets for elite classes. There are no
covers or
safety pins at the start. In other classes control descriptions are printed on
the map.
A new way of marking control descriptions on the map is tested in this
competition. In
classes H20A, H21A, H50-75 and D16, D21A, D35, D45, D50 and D60 the control
code is
printed next to the control oriented with the previous leg. In addition,
the control
description is a magnified image of the actual terrain.
In classes H21A1 and D21A1 the number of the control is also printed next to
the control
code. Control descriptions are also printed on the map in the standard way.
There will be
a questionnaire of this pilot and we hope everyone gives feedback. In classes
not
mentioned before, control descriptions will be printed in the standard way.
Terrain
Terrain is situated 170-200 m above sea level. It is diverse varying from fast
terrain
characterised by open rocks to standard forest. The occasional forestry
procedures have
been carried out to slow you down! Marshes are relatively dry. There are no fields
or
housing apart from a few summer cottages, you can find plenty of lakes instead.
Number bibs
Number bibs and EMIT-back up slips are at the pre-start. Number bibs are
collected at the
finish.
Start 1
The Huippuliiga start is at the event centre. First start is at 11.44.
Warming-up area is
west from the start, see the event centre map. Number bibs, GPS devices and
control
descriptions, EMIT-back-up slips and a model map can be found at the start.
Start 2
The start 2 is 600 m from the event centre, marked with white ribbons starting
from the
guide pole. In classes H20E and D20E there is a start threshold that must be
passed
before 11.35. This only applies to classes H/D20E. Number bibs, EMIT-back-up
slips and
control descriptions for elite classes can be found at the pre-start. Please
write your
number on the back-up slip. You are called 5 minutes before start to the
starting area
after which your EMIT-card is cleared and your EMIT-number and number checked.
One minute
before your start you can move next to your map where you can check that you
are in a
correct place from a class code on the map folded so that it can be seen. You
can take
the map at the time of start. There are light blue ribbons guiding the way from
the maps
to the actual start point. Competitors who arrive late have to report to the
officials
and follow their instructions. There is one toilet and plenty of drinking water
at the
start.
Children's start
Children's start is next to start 2, 600 m from the event centre. Number bibs
and
EMIT-back-up slips are at the pre-start. Five minutes before your start you
will be
called to the starting area where you can look at the model map for 1 minute.
In classes
H/D 10RR and H/D12TR also the courses can be seen. Four minutes before your
start your
EMIT-number will be checked and three minutes before cleared. Two minutes
before the
start orienteers in H/D10RR will get the map from an official who shows where
the start
is and where the string begins. Participants in H/D12TR can look at the model
map with
their course in it. One minute before start you move to the start line and can
look at
your maps. Once you hear the beep, you can start. RR and TR course is marked
with light
blue ribbons found in both trees and on the ground. RR codes can also be found
on the
control flags. The route form the last control is guided, but there are two
controls so
please be careful to check your code. Also remember to punch at the finish
line.
String course
There is a shortened string course for children, just enter and pay 4 euros at
the info
point. You can start around 12.30, when the last competitor in children's start
has
started.
Open courses
You can buy maps for open courses at the info point for 7 euros. The start
takes place at
start 2 between 11.00 and 13.00.
Out of bounds
Do not enter any yards of summer cottages. There are also areas near the event
centre
that are forbidden and marked with ribbons.
Finish and dropping-out
Please follow the guided route to the finish. You must punch at the finish
line; your
result is based on the time of the finish punch. In classes H/D21E the
maps are
collected at the finish. Even if you drop out, you still have to report to the
finish.
First aid
There is a first aid tent at the event centre.
